I decided to take this course because I enjoyed Honors English 2 and thought that this course would be just as challenging, if not more, and just as enjoyable, if not more. I also chose to take the course because I felt that I was prepared for the challenges this course would bring to me. Though I know I won't always be prepared for the curve balls I'm sure this course will throw, I am hoping that by the end this course will provide me with the tools to be able to think critically on my feet, which was another reason why I chose to take the course. My goals for this course are that I keep an open mind, even when I disagree strongly with something, and learn to explore other perspectives because my opinion is not law or truth. Another goal is that I learn to search and research things until I am able to find all the pieces of the puzzle and can present my research as fact, not speculation.
This course will be a new experience for me and many others considering how it is a paperless course, which in many ways is more exciting than it is intimidating. Even though I am not a knowledgeable as others as far as technology goes, I am willing to learn and adapt in the ways necessary. My biggest fear concerning this course is that I will fail, whether it be on an assignment or a discussion, and I don't even mean failing in the sense of receiving an "F" in the class (although I wouldn't really enjoy that either). I am nervous that I won't achieve a goal I have set for myself and that I will let myself down, that in my eyes is my biggest concern for both this course and everything else in my life.
